Chiropractic Scandal in North Carolina

In 2002 House speaker in North Carolina Jim Black made a cash for vote deal with Rep. Michael Decker. The deal went down in a local IHOP. The cash for chiropractor friendly legislation from 3 of the areas chiropractors.

The chiropractors involved in the incident are not being prosecuted. The chiropractor’s cooperation help lead to a guilty plea by Black. Records indicate that these men have been donating to both republican and democrat politicians over the years.

The North Carolina Chiropractic Association (NCCA) has issued statements regarding the issue. They deny any knowledge or affiliation with the chiropractors in question.

Chiropractic Diabetes Research

The Journal of Vertebral Subluxation Research has recently published an study done to investigate the effect of chiropractic care on a diabetes patient. The study was done on a patient who had been diagnosed by a medical doctor as having the disease.

Chiropractic adjustments along with nutrition and exercise showed significant improvement in the patients case. They reported after one month the patients blood glucose level was stable and insulin would no longer be necessary if the condition remained stable

More research is needed to help more fully understand the benefits of chiropractic adjustments.

Acceptance of chiropractors in mainstream medicine

Scott Kilmer, a chiropractor in Auburn, NY, has recently written an article about the trends in chiropractic care. He has some very interesting facts and information about chiropractors in hospitals.

According to the article there were more than 500 chiropractors working in hospitals in 2003. Many of these chiropractors are trained in hospital protocol and work in mostly in emergency rooms to help people that come in with back pain.

The A.A.H.C. (American Academy of Hospital Chiropractors), is an association to help train chiropractors to qualify to meet hospital protocol standards and help chiropractors gain jobs in hospitals.

Three Lakes Wisconsin Chiropractor Dies

Eugene K. Kelly Jr., 62, died in a tragic traffic accident on Friday January 19th. Kelly, was traveling southbound on highway 45 in whiteout conditions when he was struck by a pickup truck in his lane. Kelly was a gifted chiropractor and will be truly missed by his friends and family.

Learning Disabilities in Children and Chiropractic

In a recent study done by the peer reviewed Journal of Vertebral Subluxation Research (JVSR) and the World Chiropractic Alliance (WCA) suggests that children suffering from learning disabilities and dyslexia may benefit from chiropractic care. Yannick Pauli, DC, a swiss chiropractor, published a study involving more than 160 children with learning disabilities.

Yannick says, “Although the results remain preliminary and more research is needed, the evidence strongly suggests that chiropractic care may help various cognitive abilities that are essential to learning.”
